High School Musical High School Musical Romantik-Musical, USA 2006 Jared Murillo, Sabra Johnson, Anne ... , kurz „HSM, ist ein Phänomen. Mit mehr als sieben Millionen Zuschauern bei seiner amerikanischen Erstausstrahlung war das TV-Teenie-Musical zwar der bis dahin quotenträchtigste Disney-Channel-Film, doch die wirklich herausragenden Erfolge sollten erst noch folgen. Mittlerweile haben den Film mehr als 250 Millionen Menschen in über 20 Sprachen in 100 Ländern gesehen. Auf DVD war „HSM 2006 der meistverkaufte Film, mit über vier Millionen abgesetzten CDs avancierte der Soundtrack in Amerika zum erfolgreichsten Album des Jahres. Zum Franchise gehören außerdem Bühnenshows in den Disney Parks in Anaheim, Orlando und Paris. Und auch eine Eislaufshow fehlt nicht. Von Bettwäsche & Co. mal ganz zu schweigen. Als ein Jahr später dann auch die Fortsetzung High School Musical 2 einen Rekord nach dem anderen pulverisierte, war endgültig klar, dass die Produzenten hier auf eine Goldgrube gestoßen sind. Dementsprechend ist es keine Überraschung, dass die Reihe mit dem zweiten Sequel „High School Musical 3: Senior Year nun höhere Weihen schlagen will und die Kinosäle stürmt. Leider ist Regisseur und Choreograph Kenny Ortega bei dem Versuch, sein TV-Musical auf Kinoformat aufzublasen, ein ganzes Stück über das Ziel hinausgeschossen.
