A snow squall broke out while the sun was still shining. This is nothing new for Windsor. Featured at the prominent intersection of Tecumseh Road (central) and Ouellette Avenue, where the downtown starts, are Jackson Park, the Jewish Community Centre and a 4-radio-station complex of Canada's CTV Network (the current owner) in the old CKLW building, formerly the 'BIG 8', a super hot, top 40 'show' station that was very popular with Americans in the mid-sixties through to the early seventies and right on down it's signal path along the east-central United States to Cuba. The station became famous during Detroit's Motown music era. The modern day CKLW is called 'AM800' and it broadcasts a locally oriented format design to appeal to the general listening interests of those living in the greater Windsor and Essex County areas.

Drinking in NY...
After spending a week in New York, I developed 3 favorite coffee stops. The NY coffee scene is growing so there's many more cafes worth checking out, but these 3 are amazing places, each in its own way: notably, Cafe Abraço (0:00) produces all of its own fresh food, which are undoubtedly the best baked goods in all of Manhattan, thanks to cook Elizabeth Quijada; Café Grumpy (1:22) features a knowledgeable and friendly team of baristas stocking an astounding selection of coffees; and Southside Coffee (2:34) pours by far my favorite macchiato - Intelligentsia Black Cat (thanks in particular to Ramin Narimani, one of their three baristas).
And "Jonah" by Wussy (whose album Left for Dead is the best music to drink coffee to) provides the soundtrack of my cafe daytripping - a Starbucksian move that I would have to apologize for if Thurston Moore hadn't starting selling his music there.

Pan Am Railways train PLED (Plainville, CT- East Deerfield, MA) passes through Windsor, Connecticut on October 11, 2008 with two ex-Long Island Railroad bilevel coaches in the consist. These cars had been stored on a rail siding in Torrington, Connecticut for over a year but are now being moved to an unknown destination.
