Here is a song
It reminds me of when we were young
Looking back at all the things we've done
You gotta keep on, keepin on
Out to sea, it's the only place
I Honestly
Can get myself some piece of mind
You know it's gettin' hard to fly
If I'm to fall
Would you be there to applaud?
Or would you hide behind them all?
'Cause if I have to go,
In my heart you'll grow
And that's where you belong...
If I'm to fall
Would you be there to applaud?
Or would you hide behind them all?
'Cause if I have to go,
In my heart you'll grow
And that's where you belong...
If I'm to fall
Would you be there to applaud?
Or would you hide behind them all?
'Cause if I have to go
In my heart you'll grow
And that's where you belong...
Guess I'm outta time...
I'm outta time...
I'm outta time
I'm outta time
I'm outta time

MY CD OF MYSTICAL, ANCIENT LYRE MUSIC IS OUT NOW!!! Both the CD & instant digital download of "King David's Lyre; Echoes of Ancient Israel" is available from:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/mlevy
This is my 14th lesson on how to play a replica of the ancient Jewish "Kinnor" lyre, which features in my CD album & also in most of the videos on my Youtube Channel...
The "Kinnor" was the 3000 year old lyre once played by King David, as he danced before the Ark of the Covenant, and which was then played by my very own ancient Levite ancestors, in the Temple of Jerusalem, to accompany the singing of the Levitical Choir. The
1st century Jewish historian, Josephus Flavius, who actually witnessed the ancient Temple Services in Jerusalem, described the Kinnor as having 10 strings.
In this lesson, I discuss how the Kinnor may well have been played to accompany the voice during these ancient Temple Services - it is actually possible to play chord progressions on a lyre!
This ancient lyre playing technique (known as "string-blocking" or the "block & strum" technique) has actually survived to the present day, in the amazing techniques of the "Krar" lyre players of Eritrea in East Africa:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7IkMAaOaesY
I have tuned the lyre here to the traditional "Ahava Raba" mode of traditional instrumental Jewish Klezmer music, bottom string to top:
DE(Tonic)FG#ABCDE(Tonic)F
Maybe this particularly Jewish-sounding scale is as it is, because ONLY if the 10 string of the Kinnor are tuned to this particular set of musical intervals which make up the "Ahava Raba" mode, is it possible to play these particular minor chord progressions...which once must have accompanied the singing of the Levitical Choir over 2000 years ago, in the Temple of Jerusalem??? An really fascinating possibility!
The replica "Kinnor" lyre I play are amazingly affordable and are manufactured by Mid-East Mfg:
http://www.Mid-East.com
These Biblical harps are available from anywhere in the world - just do a Google image search for "Kinnor", & see where you can order one of these fantastic lyres from a local music store near you! They can be ordered from Hobgoblin Music, Manchester, UK which also stocks the CD of my album - all details can be found on my Youtube Channel Page...

Great featuring by Jane Henley and Tony Remy.
Jane Henley:
http://www.myspace.com/janehenley
Originally from Greater Manchester England, Jane lived for a while in Paris France, singing in clubs and doing Bv's for the likes of Boy George and Tcc. It was while she was in Paris that she met Maryanna Matiss and worked on her first album "Maryanna Matiss" co-writing some of her tracks. Moving to London in 1999 she met up with the Baron himself non other than Record Producer Nicolas Bulostin who formed the House Label "Grape Records" . Firmly established as Nicolas' No.2 in the label, writing tracks, and occasionally guesting as lead vocals, Jane looks after all the Graphic design.
She is also busy working on the next Maryanna Matiss album.
Jane is currently working on a new chill out project with Nicolas Bulostin entitled "Aqualise" which is a beautiful mixture of music, singing and the spoken word.
One of the songs called "Lost in The Sea" featuring Jane has been picked up recently for the Sony BMG Chill Out Compilation out on the 28th June entitled "Paradisiac"
Tony Remy:
http://www.myspace.com/tonyremy
TONY REMY is one of the world's most exciting guitar players of any genre. His hard-edged rhythmically driven approach is enriched with jazz intuition and bluesy soul.
Live on stage, his relentless invention and incredible raw energy can set the crowd on fire. The reputation he has gained within the jazz community worldwide is fast making a legend out of this North London musician.
Tony's playing draws on many different guitar styles. Guitarists like John Scofield, Hiram Bullock, Mike Stern, George Benson, Jimi Hendrix and BB King have all contributed in shaping Tony Remy's style.

http://www.manchesterbytheseamahomes.com Tour Manchester-by-the-sea, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Manchester-by-the-sea, Massachusetts was incorporated in 1645. The young community displayed its moral foundations by adopting a set of laws and regulations that prohibited the slave trade, made cruelty to animals a civil offence and forbade imprisonment for debt. Historians point out that these goodly beginnings may have led the colonists to go overboard as they continued to try to legislate all behavior with laws about how to conduct a courtship, laws against "excess in apparel" or "immodest laying out of their haire".
In 1644 a tide-mill was established, in 1668 a sawmill was built and in 1684 Aaron Bennett set up a grist mill. In a move that precipitated Manchester-by-the-sea's maritime development, John Norton began building ships on land granted him near the shore in 1684. By 1700 the prosperous burghers of Manchester were able to pay Masconomet, the sagamore of the Agawam Indians, 3 pounds and 19 shillings in silver money for all rights to the lands on which the town stood.
In its early years, the town's economy was based around farming and a lot of fishing for cod and mackerel; Manchester men were known as good mariners. In 1810, 50 masters of vessels were Manchester residents. Manchester men were patriotic as well and they served in the successful assault on Louisburg in Canada, while the town meeting raised money to support the Minute Men. Manchester remained a thriving maritime community with a fishing fleet, fish yards and fish storage warehouses until the decay of the fishing industry freed workers for the newly expanded woodworking and cabinet making jobs.
In 1845 a new era began when Manchester-by-the-sea's first summer resident, poet Richard Dana, built his vacation home. Manchester quickly became a very fashionable watering place for wealthy people from the city and supported an increasingly important summer population. In modern times, Manchester has retained its reputation as a prime summer resort while developing a new suburban commuter population and emerging as an attractive year-round residential community.
